On Mother’s Day it’s natural for people to reflect on the many sacrifices mom has made over the course of a lifetime. For many, it’s mom who makes sure tummies are fed, clothes are washed, cuts are cleaned and teeth are brushed. They are the motivators, believers and untiring supporters. Perhaps it was best said by U.S. Olympic Weightlifter, Sarah Robles, that “even when everything crumbles around you, you still have your support system.”
Procter & Gamble is in the business of helping moms, and for that reason they have launched their “Thank you, Mom” campaign for the London 2012 Olympic Games. P&G knows that behind every amazing athlete is an even more amazing mom. On Tuesday, May 8 P&G announced the “Thank you, Mom” gift which will help offset travel costs to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games for nearly 800 moms of U.S. Olympians and Paralympians. This is part of the Company’s “Thank you, Mom” campaign which exemplifies how P&G and its brands, including Tide®, Pampers® and Bounty®, are the Proud Sponsor of Moms.
Taylor had the pleasure of hosting a press event in NYC to promote this major announcement, and was joined by five U.S. Olympic athletes and hopefuls and the moms of 14 U.S. athletes. While we sat and listened to the testimonials given by these moms and athletes, we learned that after years of sacrificing to help their children achieve their dreams, many moms of Olympians struggle to find the financial means to see this dream realized. The P&G gift will make it easier for the mom behind every U.S. Olympian and Paralympian to be in London to watch their child compete. For some, traveling to London for The Olympics would not have been possible without the help of P&G.
As we witnessed the impact the P&G gift had on these moms and their children, we realized that this gift was much bigger than a ticket to London. It is the most perfect way to say “thank you” to a group of women who have tirelessly devoted their lives to their child’s dream.
P&G recognizes that being a mom is both the hardest and best job in the world, and has created an advertisement echoing that sentiment. The film has already been viewed over 3.6 million times and is drawing attention from media nationwide. Enjoy the film and share with the mom in your life.
