While legal in some cases, Signore questions the intent, rationale, and application of ethical and moral standards when deciding not to pay an intern. Not paying interns “doesn’t even pass the straight-face test,” says Signore. Signore highlights the fact that organizations benefit from the work of interns and implores companies to not look for loopholes when it comes to paying interns.
